Hegau bike marathon - the photos

The German Championships 2023 - a one day MTB race to decide who gets the title of German champion for the year.

It was a fast course, and not very technical (for the first time this year, they had a gravel event that went on the same route as the MTB - so it couldn’t have been that technical).

We were only 4 photographers for this event, which meant a location change part way through the day, which added something new and exciting to a sportograf shoot!

Here are my favourite pictures from the day:

Here is a little bit more information about the race, in case you want to join in next year.

The event takes place in Singen, a town in Baden-Württemberg, just 20km away from lake Constance (or Bodensee).

The day is not just for the champions, a few different events means that you can come and join in the fun. This year they even hosted the first e-bike edition, really opening it up to everyone.

As with all of these events - the start/finish area has food and drinks aplenty - so your fans and family will be able to keep themselves entertained whilst you’re off on the course.

The elite mens race, and the gravel 100 completed two laps of 50km, each with 1400m elevation - making a total distance of 100km with 2800m climbing.

The elite women raced the same 50km lap for the first part, and then switched off to a 31km lap with 650m elevation, for a total distance of 81km and 2050m elevation.

There were 3 refreshment aid stations around the course, allowing for resupply of food and drink as needed.

Registrations open soon for 2024 - you can sign up here: https://www.hegau-bike-marathon.de/
