Align with the sun

A sunrise yoga session in Barcelona - and Becca’s first paid photoshoot since ‘launching’ her photography instagram.

It was, of course, an early start - a 6am alarm with the aim to be out the house and en-route by 6:30. I haven’t been awake this early in a long time. It was dark out but the city was already slowly waking up.

Arriving to the location, I knew this was going to be a good experience regardless of how the sun decided to rise and what colours she was going to show today. Sometimes waking up early does have it’s rewards ;)

But, it was a tough shoot. With the light constantly changing, and in the end the sun being so bright I could hardly see what I was shooting, paired with most of the class being yoga beginners (aka not so ‘neat’ and photogenic poses all the time) there was a lot to juggle. I snapped away throughout the class and started to worry a bit when the class was coming to an end as I really wasn’t sure of how much valuable content I’d actually captured…

I got home, selected, edited and shared the photos with the client the same day - this was unexpected from my side but I hit the sweet spot of being too tired to leave my apartment, and too tired to have a nap so a laptop-on-the-sofa-job it was. And in the end, I, and more importantly, my client, was very happy with the results.

Also, for this shoot, we had agreed that it was going to be a ‘pay-what-you-like’ deal, aka, I deliver the photos, and you pay me what you think the value of them is - which rewarded me better than I would have sold myself - so that was a pleasant surprise.

I have to give a shout-out to my client, and the yoga teacher, Anne Fleur because everything about the class was perfect. I hope you can feel the serenity of the class through my photos. I loved being there to shoot the session so much, I went back the next week to take part in the class myself! Definitely a must-do if you are ever in Barcelona.
